Birding 101: Discover The Birds Around You Easy/Indoors-Outdoors

Whether you’re brand new or just looking to build confidence, this session will help you slow down, look closer, and discover the joy of birding - we will get you outside, observing, and enjoying the birds around you with confidence. We’ll start with the basics: how to use binoculars, how to choose and navigate field guides and birding apps, and simple strategies for identifying birds by sight and sound. Learn practical birding skills like how to observe behavior, count birds, and keep track of your sightings—including how to start your own “lifer list.” We’ll also dive into the bigger picture of birding, including how you can contribute to real scientific research through citizen science tools like eBird. Along the way, we’ll highlight fascinating bird facts, unique adaptations, and tips for noticing more wildlife wherever you go. We’ll also head outdoors for a guided bird walk where you can practice your newly acquired skills!
