Warder Free Library (Member Tour)

Explore the historic Warder Free Library and Reading Room, Benjamin Warder’s remarkable gift to the people of Springfield, on this free members-only tour. Designed by the prestigious firm Shepley, Rutan & Coolidge of Boston in 1887, and finished in 1890, this architectural gem is a textbook example of the Richardsonian Romanesque style by the successors to the architect who created it, Henry Hobson Richardson. This special guided tour will highlight the building’s rich history, intricate design, and enduring legacy as one of Springfield’s great cultural assets. Meet outside the building at 137 East High Street.
