Musical Improv Masterclass with Missy Moreno

Join us at Arcade Academy on Monday, April 13th for a masterclass in improvising musical comedy with Visiting Teaching Artist Missy Moreno. Participants will receive individual feedback on their current musical improv skills, as well as learn new performance techniques to strengthen their lyricism, musicianship, and musical character work. This masterclass is for experienced performers, so previous experience such as IMPROV 401: Intro to Musical Improv via Arcade Academy or equivalent training in musical improv is required for this fast-paced intensive.

About the Visiting Artist
Missy Moreno, proudly from the Steel Valley, is a comedian, actor, singer and teaching artist based in New York. A graduate of Point Park University Conservatory of Performing Arts, Missy studied and worked with the legendary Second City in Chicago graduating from the Improv and Music Improv Conservatories. She also worked with improv legend Mick Napier of The Annoyance and closed the “longest running musical in Chicago” with them, Co-Ed Prison Sluts. Missy has proudly trained with comedy greats Susan Messing, Norm Holly, Tim O’Malley, Lilly Allison, Rich Sohn. As a musical comedian, Missy has trained and performed with musical improv greats including Jeff Bouthiette and Who’s Lines’s Laura Hall, for which she opened for Laura Hall in the musical improv duo babyGRAND. babyGRAND has been seen in Chicago Improv Festival, Philly’s DuoFest, and 2nd Best Comedy Festival in RVA. Their production What Ever Happened to babyGRAND was nominated for Best Local Stage Production in Pittsburgh City Paper's 2017 Readers' Poll. Workshop begins at 7pm and will last approximately 2.5 hours. Participants are encouraged to bring a water bottle.
