National Recycling Week facility tour

Join the City of Joondalup and the City of Wanneroo in a joint facility tour for National Recycling Week 2026. You will be taken into the educational and viewing room at the Cleanaway Material Recovery Facility to see how recycling is sorted and baled. Next you have the choice of visiting an ewaste recovery facility, Total Green Recycling, or a plastic recycling facility, CLAW Environmental.

Total Green Recycling: Total Green Recycling processes waste electronics responsibly, preventing harmful materials from entering our ecosystem and recovering valuable materials for recycling. Focusing on innovation, compliance and community impact, see how this facility recovers our waste electronics.

CLAW Environmental: Established in 2003, CLAW have successfully been diverting plastics from landfill and enabling the return of recycled plastics into manufacturing. They are a leading local plastic recycler, focusing on rigid plastics and expanded polystyrene.

Details

Please note the times are approx. based on traffic, but we will try and stick to them as close as possible. 

Accessibility: please note at the Cleanaway MRF, you will be required to walk up approximately 35 steps.

Other information: 

• Enclosed shoes and long sleeves/pants must be worn.  


• Bring your own water bottle.


• Come with lots of questions on waste, recycling, upcycling and textiles.


• Lunch is provided at Cleanaway on behalf of the City of Joondalup and the City of Wanneroo.


• Particpants must be age 11 or older


• Participants under the age of 18 must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times

The workshop will only be cancelled if there are insufficient enrolments received one day prior to the event or due to factors beyond the City’s control.
