Join us for an inspiring author talk with Jess Michael as she shares the deeply personal story behind her memoir Defying the Diagnosis. Jess will speak candidly with librarian Nat, about her journey through cancer diagnosis, treatment, fear and uncertainty, alongside the practical, emotional and spiritual tools that helped her endure.
A Stage Four cancer diagnosis and the words “twelve months to live” became a profound turning point in Jess Michael’s life—not toward despair, but toward a conscious decision to reclaim control, meaning and hope.
Rather than offering false promises or rejecting medical science, Jess explores how meaning, purpose and even peace can be found when outcomes are uncertain. Her story reflects a powerful balance between conventional and unconventional approaches, reconnecting with joy and learning to live fully in the present moment.
Passionate about empowering others, Jess encourages individuals to trust their inner strength and reclaim a sense of control over their healing journey. Come to hear her story and be encouraged.
