GENTLE MONSTER

We're thrilled to welcome one of France's leading actors to the film festival! From director and writer Marie Kreutzer (Corsage), Gentle Monster tells the story of concert pianist Lucy (Léa Seydoux), who has just relocated her family to a country house hoping to ease her husband Philip's (Laurence Rupp) severe burnout. Before they have a chance to set up their new home, an early morning police visit tears their life apart. Torn between believing the man she loves and the fear of what he may have done, Lucy must face the situation alone as her world unravels. With a superb cast that includes the legendary Academy Award nominee Catherine Deneuve, Gentle Monster asks what we do when someone we love turns out to be someone we never really knew. One of France's most accomplished actors, Léa Seydoux delivers an extraordinary performance, as she navigates wanting to preserve her family and protect her young son with the reality of her husband's unimaginable actions. Presentation of the Outstanding Achievement in Acting Award to Léa Seydoux and Q&A with director-writer Marie Kreutzer and Léa Seydoux following the screening.
