ELSINORE

London, 1989. Ian Charleson, a gifted British stage and screen star, is unfulfilled by his roles. When he is unexpectedly asked to play the title role in "Hamlet" at the National Theatre, he embarks on the part of a lifetime. But as he throws himself into rehearsals, Charleson must face mortality on and off the stage. Directed by Simon Stone (The Dig) and written by Stephen Beresford (Pride), Elsinore is the deeply emotional true story of a man whose greatest challenge becomes his greatest triumph. In a transcendently raw and riveting performance, Andrew Scott embodies Charleson, who faces death with unflinching honesty, wit, and grace. "It's about the fact that we only have one chance to live, and you've got to live it," Scott says. "Ian was in love with the theatre, and he wasn't going to let anything stop him." Olivia Colman gives a memorable performance as Charleson's doctor, who must balance protecting her patient's health with his passion for the stage.
