'Dark Genius of Wall Street' Book Talk

Join us for a literary event with author Edward J. Renehan Jr. and he discusses his book Dark Genius of Wall Street: The Misunderstood Life of Jay Gould, King of the Robber Barons. A book talk and meet and greet with the author at 3pm will be followed by a reception with light bites and drinks at 4pm.

EDWARD J. RENEHAN JR. is the author of numerous books, including Dark Genius of Wall Street: The Misunderstood Life of Jay Gould, King of the Robber Barons, published in 2005 by Basic Books/Perseus Book Group and since then generally recognized to be the most accurate and readable Jay Gould biography to date. BARRON'S praised the volume for providing "a fresh evocative take on the Gilded Age and its brutal brand of business." Writing in The Spectator (London), Martin Vander Weyer said: "Renehan [demonstrates] from contemporary sources that Gould's misdeeds have been exaggerated over a century of telling. ... Renehan's meticulous portrait does him proud." Writing for Bloomberg, Ed Leefeldt described the book as "a primer for our own dark age of business leaders. ... Renehan's dead-on biography is proof it happened before, and, if anything, Gould was better at it than the current collection of fraudsters." Among Renehan's other books is a biography of Jay Gould's close friend of boyhood, the writer John Burroughs, published by Chelsea Green in 1992.
