Bush Animal Weaving Workshop | NAIDOC 2026
Join Yjindibarndi and Djaru artist Emma-Jane Hunt for a playful weaving workshop inspired by Australian bush animals and native creatures.
Using colourful materials and simple weaving techniques, participants will create their own handmade bush critter to take home — from cheeky lizards to squishy honey ants and other curious native animals, designed especially for children and families.
Emma-Jane was taught to weave by Martu Weavers from the Western Desert while living in the East Pilbara and is passionate about keeping weaving alive as an important cultural practice.
