Event Description

To mark National Reconciliation Week 2021 (27 May to 3 June), the Harbour Trust is proud to present a special talk celebrating the Dreamtime Story of Buriburi, the humpback whale, on Thursday 27 May (1-2pm).

We are privileged to have Ray Ingrey, Chairperson of the Gujaga Foundation, as our guest presenter.

A Dharawal person from the La Perouse Aboriginal community, Ray will share the story of Buriburi as it was told to him when he was young, discuss Buriburi’s meaningful role in shaping the Sydney Harbour and the surrounding areas, and offer the perspective of Coastal Sydney's Traditional Owners.

This talk is being simultaneously presented as an in-person talk in Mosman and online as a webinar...

  • In-person: The in-person talk is being held at the Harbour Trust Head Office (Building 28, Best Avenue, Georges Heights, Mosman). Limited spots available. Book your tickets on this page.

  • Webinar: This DigiTalk is being delivered via the ZOOM webinar platform so you can tune in from home. To register, complete the webform at harbourtrust.gov.au/en/learn/free-talks/digitalks/. Registrants will be emailed the login details for the talk closer to the date. Note: Registrations for the webinar close at 9am on Thursday 27 May.

About the presenter

Ray Ingrey is a Dharawal person from the La Perouse Aboriginal community. He has a number of leadership roles within his community, including as Chairperson of the Gujaga Foundation. The Gujaga Foundation is the peak organisation leading language, culture and research activities within the La Perouse Aboriginal community.
