American Me Comedy | Benefit for SDPD's Youth Shield

American Me Comedy showcases some of today’s funniest working comics from all walks of life, bringing audiences together through laughter and unique perspectives.

Proceeds will benefit the San Diego Police Department’s Community & Youth Services youth programs, which are focused on mentorship, leadership, prevention, and creating positive connections between young people, law enforcement, and their communities.

 

A major part of their work is Youth SHIELD, SDPD’s citywide youth leadership pathway connecting School Safety Patrol, Junior Cadets, and Cadets. The program gives young people opportunities to grow from elementary school through young adulthood while developing confidence, responsibility, teamwork, character, and leadership through service and mentorship.

 

Community & Youth Services supports school-based programs, youth mentoring, educational and prevention efforts, diversion partnerships, community service opportunities, and events that allow kids and officers to interact in positive, meaningful ways. The goal is not simply to introduce young people to law enforcement careers, it is to invest in young people, provide them with trusted adult mentors and opportunities to belong and contribute, and help build stronger kids, stronger schools, and stronger communities. That philosophy is at the heart of Youth SHIELD as well: giving young people structure, mentorship, and meaningful ways to serve so they can become leaders who positively influence those around them.

 

Funds raised from this special Comedy Night will help the  SDPD continue expanding these opportunities and providing meaningful experiences, resources, and programming for San Diego youth.
