A TALENT FOR MURDER

Set in 1995, A Talent for Murder finds Patricia Highsmith (a magnificent Helen Mirren), bitter and living in self-imposed exile in the Swiss mountains, keeping company with only her cats, books, and a creepy assortment of antique weapons. Edward Ridgeway (Alden Ehrenreich), a young editor from a New York publishing house, arrives hoping to talk her into writing one final Tom Ripley novel. Irritated by his eagerness, Highsmith refuses, unless he can help her invent the perfect murder. What follows is a cunning, seductive game of wits between an aging icon and the ambitious young man trying to outmaneuver her, pulling him deeper into her world until the line between his identity and Ripley's begins to dissolve. Also featuring Olivia Cooke as Clementine, another young American visiting the same town to see a wealthy aunt. Directed by Anton Corbijn from Joanna Murray-Smith's play “Switzerland”, A Talent for Murder is a darkly funny, intoxicating tale of unsettling brilliance and ambition.
