Icelandic State Park is excited to host this camp as part of our summer Day Camp series, which focuses on environmental education, historical-cultural knowledge, and outdoor recreational skills for children ages 7-13.
In this camp, we’ll be learning tips and tricks to make your time out in the wilderness more comfortable. Starting fires with flint and steel, identifying poisonous, edible and medicinal plants, as well as tried-and-true shelter building techniques are just some of the things that we’ll learn over the course of the day. Camp begins at 9am and campers should be dropped off at the Heritage Center no earlier than 8:45am, and can be picked up at 4pm at the Hillman Trailhead.
Registration for all North Dakota Parks and Recreation Day Camps opens May 1 at 9am. The cost for this camp is $35/participant; participants must be the described age at the time of camp. Participants can register for multiple camps within the summer series as different activities are planned for most camps. Class sizes are limited so it is highly recommended to register promptly.
To maximize their experience, campers should dress for conditions, bring a water bottle, and wear bug spray and sunscreen. Lunch and snacks are provided. If your participant has food allergies, please inform staff no later than one week prior to your camp date.
