MISTY GREEN

Written and directed by Chris Rock, Misty Green is a raw, unflinching portrait of an actress fighting for her second act. Misty (Rosalind Eleazar, in a magnetic performance) is a fading star who once won an Emmy but can no longer land an audition, partly because she is too proud to submit herself to one. When she abruptly loses her apartment, she begins to spiral. Her troubled brother Jay (Daniel Kaluuya) re-enters her life, carrying the weight of their shared past. Misty is pulled between Zach (Adam Driver), a slick faux filmmaker who feeds her worst impulses, and Jordan (Chris Rock), a director from her past who can still see her potential. Anna Kendrick co-stars as Naomi, her hard-partying friend. Set against a Los Angeles divided between staggering wealth and visible desperation, the film is a searing look at a woman who is her own worst enemy in a world where talent alone isn't enough. Presentation of Breakthrough Actor Award and Q&A with Rosalind Eleazar following the screening.
